On the mend...

I think everyone is finally healthy again! Daddy was very gingerly back on his feet today and the girls were so, SO happy to be able to (gently) cuddle with him again.
We had a nice visit from Nana and Pee Paw this afternoon. Cora spent lots of time singing Elmo songs with Pee Paw. I think "Bingo" and "Shout!" were the top hits.
Other than that we've been getting ready for something really big that's coming up this weekend. Leyna's been counting it down with our homemade countdown chart. Can you guess what it is?

Sicky Icky Icky

I am so tired. So very, very tired. Cora went to bed healthy last night and woke up at 11:30 barely able to breathe with a barking cough. I sat up and held her until 1:00, when I finally felt comfortable that she was getting enough air and closed my eyes. At some point while we were sleeping Daddy started getting sick in the bathroom, kept it up all day, and is still going. Thankfully Cora was back to normal today like nothing even happened last night. She must have a healthy little immune system! Poor Daddy has not been so lucky though.
So, I spent my day doing six loads of laundry and using almost an entire container of Lysol wipes to disinfect everything in the house. It happened to be a gorgeous day outside so the girls and I tried to enjoy it in little bits. We went for a couple of walks, planted some flowers, fed the birds, and played on the swings. I only took a couple of pictures and here they are:
Lunch on the deck
The after-nap juice guzzle
LOVE this hair ;)
GOOD NIGHT! (I hope.)

Fun with friends

I had a day of laundry and cleaning planned today but that all got thrown out the window and I'm glad :) Uncle Andy came to help Daddy and Uncle Steve with the play house and he brought the boys along. We went for a walk, blew bubbles, played on the swings, and played in the play house itself!
Aunt Kim joined us later in the afternoon and we had a nice dinner, ate cake, and ended with a dance party. It was an unexpectedly great day!

A busy, happy half birthday!

Happy Half Birthday to Leyna! My  first baby is 3 1/2 today. I can't believe it! And boy is she GROWING!
From 3 years to 42 months she has grown a lot! No wonder all of her pants are getting short!
After being measured on her growth chart we headed off to her last sports class. Cora and I attended today for the first time and I think Cora wished she was in the class too! They practiced all of the sports they had learned today: Basketball, soccer, and t-ball. Leyna maintains that basketball is her favorite, and I think Cora feels the same way :) Judging from her growth chart Leyna may be well on her way to being a star at the hoops!
After sports we headed to Ms. Gloria's old house to help Mee Maw & Chooch clean things out a bit. Not such an easy task with two curious and attention-demanding little girls but we were able to get some things done and they had a blast exploring and playing with all of the cool little treasures they could find.
Dinner was much later than the girls are used to - 7:45! I've never seen them eat so fast and so quietly in my life. I think this may have been their most enjoyable meal ever. Food tastes extra good when you're extra hungry, and you can never go wrong with spaghetti!
After dinner Leyna found this:
And then of course we had a half a cake for a half birthday celebration (and even a half a candle!). I have to pat myself on the back for this cake. It turned out great. You can find the recipe and instructions here.
I absolutely can't get this picture to rotate but it's my new favorite picture of Leyna so I have to share!
We headed home way past bedtime with two passed out girls in the back seat. It was a busy, but very happy half birthday :)

Random thoughts of a preschooler

Here are some of the interesting things Leyna said to me this week:

"How did you build my shoes?"

Me to Leyna on couch: Do you want milk?
"Yeah, if I can stop this merry go round!"

"Why is blond yellow?"

The radio was playing in the car: "Mom this sounds like a funeral song.  Yeah, it makes me pray about God and Gloria."
"Mom, why do we live on Earth and not in space?"

When I told her she wasn't supposed to do something: "But if you weren't in this room you wouldn't have seen me and you wouldn't say that!"

Here she is "painting" on our micro-suede chair...

Cora says some pretty cute stuff as well. She a little obsessed with a stuffed monkey that Grandpa gave to Leyna. she calls it George (as in Curious George). The other day she said: "Where George? No... Not here!" I guess that doesn't sound too amazing but it was pretty darn cute.

She's also very into singing these days. The song she knows the most words to is "B-I-N-G-O." She also likes "Jesus Loves Me," "Happy Dirtday," "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and "Old McDonald."

Oh, and she's a daredevil...
