A long but good day

Cora put her shoes on all by herself and said "I DID IT!!!"

As Leyna so eloquently put it right before she passed out in the car tonight, "Mommy, today was a long day..."
Mommy and Daddy had lots of fun on our double date last night but it made for a very short night. In bed by 1am, Leyna coughing from 2-3am, and then Cora up at 6am on the dot. My head hurts.
Thankfully the big girls (myself, Mee Maw, Aunt Kara, and Teresa) were scheduled for relaxing spa nail treatments today. Meanwhile the boys took on the thoughtful task of detailing Mee Maw's car for her as an early Mother's Day gift. Our little girls spent some more time with Nana and Pee Paw (thank goodness Nana and Pee Paw aren't tired of them yet!) and they played at the park and probably fed Rudy way too many treats.
After I picked them up we headed out to a pizza buffet with Mee Maw, Chooch, Uncle Matt, and Aunt Kara. It was so yummy but the favorite part for the girls was when Uncle Matt finally won them some plastic dinosaurs from the arcade after many failed attempts by me. Thanks Uncle Matt!
After dinner we played in this fountain for probably 45 minutes...
And then, despite being completely frozen by cold fountain water from the elbows down, we went for some ice cream. Vanilla with sprinkles mixed in for Leyna, and Red Velvet Cake flavor for Cora and I. (Note to self: Please only serve Cora ice cream in plain, non-staining colors from now on!)
It was a long but good day!

A real live princess

I'm doing another early post today because tonight Mommy and Daddy are going out on a double date (grown ups only!). Dinner and a movie. CAN NOT WAIT! Especially after this week's adventures with sickness - I really need to get out :)
And speaking of the sickness, I'm happy to report that Leyna is finally back to her normal princess self. And this morning she sat and watched the royal wedding with 100% of her attention (and lots of questions). She especially loved it when they got into the horse-drawn carriage. Magical ;)
And Cora is so happy that her favorite play mate is back and they can play "pup pup" again. Oh, and she counted to 14 today like it was nothing. Smarty!

Ugh

In case you couldn't tell from yesterday's Wordless Wednesday post, we have a sick princess in the house. It was QUITE a day yesterday. Andy asked me at one point if I needed anything and I told him I needed a new family room and a vacation. A good night's sleep would have sufficed though. Too bad for us. We put Leyna in bed with us last night and zonked out. Cora slept soundly all night and Leyna was only up once for more meds at 2:00. Then at 4:30am the tornado warning system in our area went off. Mommy & Daddy - wide awake. We turned on the TV and decided to heed the warnings and take both soundly sleeping girls down to the family room so we would be one level closer to the basement just in case. I'm thinking we were probably the only idiots in the neighborhood to take it seriously but it did look pretty iffy and always better safe than sorry - especially with two precious little princesses in the house. THANKFULLY both girls stayed asleep on their respective couches until 6:00 despite the wind and rain. I made coffee and watched the radar on TV and Daddy dozed for a bit. Here are a couple shots of the scene:
So, I'm sure some other blog-worthy things will happen today but I'm getting this post done now while my eyelids are still relatively open and my brain is almost functioning. Hopefully Leyna will start feeling better soon (she's still got a touch of fever) and we can find some fun to do while we're stuck inside all day. I think it's going to be a long day and I imagine I'll be going to bed right after the girls do tonight!

Veggie Garden

We worked hard today! Leyna and I worked through Cora's nap time and got our veggie gardens up and running. Four kinds of peppers, five kinds of tomatoes, basil, cilantro, parsley, green onions, garlic, chives, dill, mint, and thyme. I hope we get some of everything!
And this evening Daddy got the new slide put on the play house. It's tall, steep, and FAST. Weeeeeeee!

Hangin out...

Today was a really nice day. The weather was gorgeous shorts and tank tops weather. We had no agenda and I had no to-do list. We played outside with neighbors, planted sunflowers, painted our toes, played on the swing set, read books, pretended to be bunny rabbits, and pretty much just enjoyed one another's company. Before bed we ate ice cream bars and Leyna looked at me and said, "Today was a fantastic day!" That pretty much sums it up!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone out there had a great day! We had a very full and fun day. Full of highs and sugar crashes, family, food, and good times. Now I'm so happy to be sitting quietly on the couch, eating leftover macaroni and cheese and drinking a glass of wine while I look over the pictures of our happy day. Wanna see?
Leyna woke up extra early and saw "little dot thingys" at the bottom of the steps...
It was a trail of jelly beans!
Apparently we had a visitor. And he ate carrots and helped himself to a juice box!
Cora was so blown away that there were jellybeans all over the floor that she just ate and danced, ate and danced...
And the jellybeans led them to some very special Easter baskets!
Someone got the movie "Tangled"!
I can't believe we get to eat candy for breakfast!
A little lady at church in her Sunday best
More Easter baskets at Nana and Pee Paw's house!
The girls pretty much ate as much candy as they wanted today. There were quite a few sugar highs and crashes throughout the day :)
New baby Pillow Pets from Nana and Pee Paw.
And a super cute, and a bit fought over, puppy from Great Grandpa
And a cute little sheepy from Uncle Gene and Aunt Marty!
The last sugar crash on the way home was a doozy but it ended with sweet sleep for two very tuckered out and much loved little girls. It's so fun seeing the magic of the holidays through their eyes.

Egg Hunt #4, at the zoo!

We braved the rain today and met Mee Maw and Chooch at the zoo for yet another Easter Egg Hunt. The girls found eggs, played games and won prizes, saw a funny puppet show, ate chocolate and popcorn, explored, rode a carousel, and of course saw some cute and cool animals (though we didn't make it very far into the animal section before we were too pooped to carry on).
Of course Leyna HAD to have her face painted. This lady was amazing. She did the best face painting job ever, for the cheapest and fastest I've ever seen it done. I took a card - maybe we can hire her for a birthday party some day ;)
Our little tiger princess (notice the jewel!)
As soon as Leyna got down from the chair Cora climbed right up. We hadn't planned on getting her face done but she didn't give us a choice! We all just laughed and laughed at how still she sat and how serious she was. This girl knows EXACTLY what she wants!
 Our little lion cub princess...
I'm sorry but these are the two cutest things I've EVER, EVER, EVER seen in my life. If you don't agree you're just wrong! ;)
And this is "Ritz" the duck. He was quite a hit.
We ate LOTS of kettle corn. Chooch bought each girl her own humongous bag.
And look who's not afraid of the Easter Bunny!!!

And when it was all over, well, it wasn't really all over at all. Mee Maw had Easter baskets for each girl. They were SO well put together in usual Mee Maw style. All purple stuff (stuffed bunnies, homemade mini cupcakes, candy, and an outfit) for Leyna and pink for Cora.
And we ate just a bit more candy when we got home. Then I threw them in the bathtub and washed their faces off (the rain had already started to do it a bit) for fear that they would still look like wild animals in their pretty little Easter dresses tomorrow. LOL
