Funny stuff

Cora has been saying all kinds of funny stuff today! I didn't write most of it down but just now outside she was running down our steep driveway over and over and over again and I said "Careful! You're making me nervous!" Her reply? "You not nervous. You a Jami." LOL. She also used the word "Enormous" several times today which I thought was quite impressive.
This morning I had an appointment so the girls hung out with Nana and Pee Paw for a bit. They went to the park and enjoyed the gorgeous weather, and afterward we all met back up and had lunch at the hospital cafeteria. It may seem weird to go out of your way to eat at the hospital cafeteria but they have really good food! Leyna and Cora shared/inhaled their spaghetti and meatballs :)
We all matched today! Not planned!!!

Potty success!

Above is one snapshot from our fun at Reagan & Reed's house today. The girls had a ball playing in their huge playroom, pretending they had babies in their tummies, and running in the yard. I know it was huge for them to finally be playing with kids their age after all of the days stuck at home sick.
Before we went to our playdate we made a quick stop at Kohls for a few things. I started looking around and Cora told me she had to go potty. Panic. Up until now Cora has been terrified of using the bathroom in public and flat out refused to do it. So much so that I bought a small potty for the trunk of my car and she goes in there if we are out and about. Nice huh? Well today I managed to convince her to at least try. So, while I hugged her and Leyna and I both sang "Itsy Bitsy Spider" Cora finally managed to use the bathroom in a public place. HOORAY! Shopping will be so much easier :) She has been doing so well with potty training and is in underwear full-time with Pull-Ups on only at night.  She's making it through the day on about one accident, which usually happens if we are playing outside. So, I'd say she's doing AMAZING. And we're so happy that we don't have to buy diapers any more. Thanks Cora!

Laid back Sunday

Today was a pretty laid back day, which was so very needed. We survived hurricane Irene with no damage whatsoever except for a tiny bit of lost sleep from the wind. Though apparently it didn't bother Leyna because she slept in her new BIG bed all night!
This morning Uncle Doug and Teresa ("Deesa") came over bearing a big box of Munchkin donuts. Deesa gave the girls mani/pedis and otherwise entertained them and made their day. We ate A LOT of good food. Cheesesteaks, pizza, apple dumplings... you know, healthy stuff ;)
Now we're all settling in and hoping for a good night of sleep. That's all I have to say!

Big, BIG girl bed

This was Leyna's room this morning:
And this was Leyna's room by this afternoon:
BIG changes huh? We decided that our little BIG girl needed a little more space to sleep. She likes to spread out :) So today she pulled out her tools and helped Daddy get the job done.
And now I have to say that our BIG girl looks a bit more little ;)

Picture surprise

Hi there. Still coughing. Still tired. I promise I'll blog about something other than being sick one day. Promise!
We had some really fun plans for tonight that we had to cancel but Nana and Pee Paw kept to their babysitting plans and gave us a much-needed break. Plus everyone was super happy to get out of the house. Here's what I found on the camera when we got home tonight. So cute!

What a night, what a day

Ugh. Are you tired of hearing about the sickness yet? Me too. We had a rough night last night. Cora finally slept through the night with no coughing fits but Leyna and I didn't fare so well. We were both coughing our brains out all night, and Leyna (and consequently Daddy & I) was also blessed with a middle-of-the-night nosebleed. It was rough folks.
I've been mostly out of commission today. Trying my very best not to talk, and just to whisper if I have to. It's actually made for a pretty quiet household besides the constant coughing - I think I should have whisper-only days more often! This afternoon I put Cora down and then Leyna and I curled up in bed for a little rest. And can you guess what happened? We had an EARTHQUAKE! I am the most jinxed napper ever. On the rare occasion that I actually break down and lay down in the middle of the day it never fails that the phone rings, we have a random Fed Ex delivery, Cora  wakes up freakishly early... but an earthquake??? That just proves to me that I am not meant to have naps. And it's so unfair :( Anyway, Leyna and I were just laying there and I realized the bed was shaking. I was about to tell her to stop kicking her feet when I realized the armoire door was banging on the wall. I ran into the hallway and the some of our other doors were shaking. Cora of course was fast asleep and Leyna only slightly concerned with why I jumped out of bed like a crazy person. So there you have it, the girls had their first earthquake today. Exciting!
I once again didn't manage many pictures today but here are a couple and then I will leave you with a few cute Cora quotes from today :)
My post this morning. I barricaded the girls in their rooms and laid here face down and felt sorry for myself.
Cora was up in her room and Leyna came upstairs toward her...
Cora: Nayna! (running with arms wide open for a hug) I so gwad you're here!
Leyna: (hugging her tight) Sissy!

This afternoon when I helped Cora onto the potty...
Cora: What do you think Mama?
Me: I think I'm so happy that your underwear are dry.
Cora: That's right Jami!

And she called her daddy a "Cutie Pie" this afternoon. Too funny!

Still blah

Yep, still sick. We had a super fun day planned with our friends today and had to cancel. Major bummer. Cora is possibly a little better but it's hard to tell since she doesn't slow down much no matter how bad she feels. Leyna and I are doing a bit worse and unfortunately this morning she was showing the signs of pink eye on top of it. Lovely! Tonight she's complaining of ear pain and asked to go to bed a full hour early. She did and fell asleep pretty much as soon as her head hit the pillow. Yeah, something is VERY off when Leyna willingly goes to bed and does it that fast. We'll see what's in store for us tomorrow... *sigh*
So, not much to report but here are a couple of pictures anyway...
I gave Leyna a few requested craft supplies while Cora was napping this afternoon and she ran with it. Look at everything she churned out today!
Even when they're covered with germs there's no way I can keep them away from one another :)

Blah

Today was a very lazy day for me. I haven't been feeling great so for once I actually took a few breaks today and rested. Uncle Doug and Teresa were here for breakfast and Nana and Pee Paw came for a late afternoon visit and dinner drop-off (Thanks!!!). Otherwise I sat around on the computer, cleaned just enough to feel like the germs were out of the house, and even took a little nap. It's been 5 nights and counting of bad sleep due to middle-of-the-night coughing fits from Cora and various other things so I'm really, REALLY hoping/praying/begging/PLEADING that tonight is restful and quiet.
The girls spent a good bit of time in the garage with Daddy playing games, riding bikes, and using all of his spare wood and glue to make "canoes." I only took one picture today and it was after my nap while Cora was still sleeping. I happened to look out the window and see this picture-perfect little scene and it made me smile :)

Ponies!

The girls have been really into horses lately so today we decided we were well enough to get out of the house and do something very special - visit a miniature pony farm. It was SO cool. All four of us were pretty much filled with wonder the entire time.
Upon arrival we found out you can pet and feed any animal you see. They were so gentle!
There was a whole bucket of brushes so we spent some time grooming. Loved this miniature donkey.
Cora took a few minutes to warm up
but then she was pretty excited :)
After our "close encounters" we went to the arena for a show. Daddy got the girls some popcorn and it was a show in itself watching them dig in to it.
The show was very entertaining - pony jumps and tricks, both dog and pony races, llamas, pigs, border collie basketball... you name it.
Cora couldn't quite make it thru the whole show so she and I went out and explored. We met this cute goat.
And rode the coolest swing ever.
Then she introduced her new friend to her sister.
They put on a show in the saloon...
And then it was time for the most anticipated event of the day - the pony ride. Only Leyna was so nervous she didn't enjoy it one bit. It was a lot bumpier than the rides at the carnival where they just go in circles. Cora wouldn't even let her butt touch the saddle. Oh well!
Leyna finally smiled when she got OFF the horse :)
We panned for jewels...
Rode some tractors...
And CONKED OUT hard.
