Happy Memorial Day!

Today was a little slice of what life is all about. Relaxing, enjoying some family time, some friend time, enjoying our home and our yard and most importantly each other, laughing, eating, drinking, and being merry :)
Don't even think about it bees!
The girls got to meet our newest neighbor today. Leyna was in heaven. I think she would have held her all day :)
And Cora was equally enthralled. She kept checking on the baby and at one point when she was on the deck she said, "Where's my baby?"
Getting braver and braver!
Guess who just ate three marshmallows and two cookies???!!!

I tired.

"I tired" is one of Cora's many, many well-used phrases these days. Also popular are "I don't yike it," "I hungy," and "I wuv ______ (whoever she's thinking about)." Anyway, I AM tired. Last night Cora woke up a time or two so I crashed on her floor for a bit. Around 4 am I woke up and looked in her bed and it was empty. I looked all around the room - No Cora... All around Leyna's room - No Cora... In our bed and on our floor - No Cora...!!! Commence freak out. I woke Andy up and told her I couldn't find her anywhere. We turned on all the lights, I searched downstairs, I re-searched upstairs - nothing. Then for some reason I went back in her room one last time and saw her curly little head sticking out from under her bed. Holy cow! How did she get under there? She was right next to me when I woke up and I didn't even see her. She must have popped her head out after we started searching. I scooped her up and put her in her bed and she didn't even budge. She was OUT. We were WIDE AWAKE, hearts still pounding. And now? I tired.
We spent the day playing and having a picnic at Mee Maw & Chooch's house with everyone. Food, sun, heat, treasure hunting, and more food. It was a fun day and... I tired. ;)

Happy Birthday to me :)

This is what I woke up and came downstairs to this morning:
Four new pairs of flip flops leading to the kitchen island, where there stood a really cool new solar lit bird feeder! Happy birthday to me! Leyna gave me a really cute card she drew and Cora even said "Happy Birthday Mommy." Then we headed off on my birthday adventure of choice - a trip to the aquarium. It was a fun time and I think the girls enjoyed the many, many escalators more than anything. I think the sea horses were my favorite. We shared a delicious Strawberry Shortcake Sundae and headed home for some relaxing in the back yard. Grilled pizza, swinging, some t-ball, AND I got to hold our new 2-day old neighbor. SO PRECIOUS!!! It's hard to believe I was that small 31 years ago. Heck, it's hard to believe Cora was that small almost 22 months ago!
It was a very nice birthday and I'm going to enjoy the last couple of hours of it watching TV with my feet up. I'm old like that ;)

Good times

Like I do so many nights, I sat down to the computer tonight with no idea about what to type. I started looking back on the pictures from today and was literally laughing out loud. Maybe I'm just delirious from four nights of bad sleep but I thought: This is that the blog is all about. Good memories and good times and usually laughing a good bit. I hope I can look back on these same pictures a year from now and laugh just as hard :)

Big Girl/Acrobat

Look who isn't sleeping in a crib anymore!
Since we got back from our trip Cora has been extremely resistant of her crib. One day I had to climb in with her during both nap and bed times in order to get her to lay down and fall asleep. Comfy! If I left her alone to work it out for herself I would come back in to find her with one leg up over the edge about to escape. The next day she opted for sleeping on the floor instead. The next day I ordered her a toddler rail and took the front off of her crib. That was yesterday.
This is what she looks like right now:
The blue cushion is there temporarily until the toddler rail is delivered. It's also where I slept last night since she got out of bed a couple times. Incidentally I don't think she needs it there at all considering this is what she did 218 times today:
Tonight we are feeling extra thankful for Daddy. He had a harrowing day today between his car losing all power while he was driving this morning, and then having a severe and very scary reaction to his allergy shot this afternoon. It was quite a day. He doesn't make it on the blog every day but we sure do love him and love having him around!

T-ball

Nana and Pee Paw came for a visit today and brought a little surprise for the girls - T-ball! Leyna played with Pee Paw for a bit and managed not to whack anyone with the bat. She really likes batting but is totally opposed to running the bases and especially against Pee Paw trying to get her and tag her out. We played again this evening and I have to say she's pretty good. I did a couple of slow pitches to her and she was able to hit those as well! We may have a natural on our hands :)

An ordinary day

It was nice to have an ordinary day today. We've been having so much fun but it was nice to just be home and "relax." Really, there's hardly ever any real relaxing going on in our house but you know what I mean. We played outside, pulled some weeds, colored, grocery shopped, played on the deck... just normal stuff. I only got one picture and it was of the girls chasing each other around the house. Just like always :)
I have to share that at the hardware store tonight Cora was having quite a tantrum. I took her to a different part of the store for a change of scenery and it worked to calm her down. On our way back to Daddy and Leyna I said to Cora, "Mommy loves you. Are you my good girl?" and she replied, "No, I bad. I be trouble." LOL. Lovely!

Triple Play

Today was the grand finale. After two straight weeks of running around like crazy people we decided to really do it up today. Tomorrow, we will rest. Today, we played - A LOT.
First was a morning visit from Mee Maw, Great Grandpa, and Great Grandma. It was Great Grandpa and Grandma's first time seeing our house and since we haven't been home much lately we had a little running around to do. Uncle Doug and Daddy tackled the yard while Teresa made breakfast and I ran around like a chicken with it's head cut off. We had a very nice and relaxing visit and we really wished they could have stayed longer. I can't put in type how cute it is when Cora says "I wanna play with Great Grandma" so you'll just have to trust me on it ;)
After our visitors left we packed up the car and headed to Reagan's fourth birthday party. It was a blast. The theme was bugs and the girls got to make their own bug collecting jar, go on a bug hunt, swat at a pinata, eat lollipops, eat cake, run around like crazy people, and eat more lollipops.
AND THEN? THEN we went to Conner and Scott's house to hang out and have dinner! We missed Scott's second birthday party yesterday so we took him his present and had a nice relaxing dinner and some fun play time outside.
Conner: "WE'RE PUTTING ON A CONCERT!!!"
The girls fell asleep in the car on the way home and right now I'm sitting in bed with Cora snuggled up against my side because she just wouldn't stand for being left alone in her bed tonight. I don't blame her. It's been a crazy couple of weeks and we all have some settling back in to do.
Tonight we WILL sleep and tomorrow we WILL chill!!!

Aunt Chrissy & Uncle Todd's Wedding

Our little flower girl was quite nervous about her duties this morning but she pulled through and did an amazing job of walking down the aisle with a smile on her face. She really couldn't have done a better job. The wedding was beautiful, the reception was fun, and now the girls have another uncle! We made it home by 7, hung out with Uncle Doug and Teresa, and tried to get ready for another busy day tomorrow!!!
