Sick of being sick!

This is getting ridiculous! I think we've been sick since August. Please get here soon Spring!
Leyna was acting a little off yesterday evening and she woke up in the middle of the night last night in hysterics that her waist hurt, her head hurt, and she was just plain miserable. Of course she was burning up with a fever so I tried to get her to take some fever reducer. HUGE MISTAKE. It was red. REALLY huge mistake. She kept it down for all of 10 seconds and then it was EVERYWHERE. In an awesome stroke of midnight genius I attempted to run her to the bathroom so she could finish getting sick in the sink. On the way out the door we literally ran into Daddy and there was an actual "splat!" sound and we were all covered. So was her bed, the carpet from her bed to the bathroom, and several other things in between. What a nightmare. We finally got back to bed after two hours, with her on a makeshift bed in our room. I listened to her moan and grind her teeth the rest of the night, scared that she was about to get sick every time she moved. Thankfully Cora slept through the whole thing. At least one of us got some rest!
Needless to say today was a day of cuddles and clean up. Here's the exciting run down:
7:45am
10:14am
10:15am
ALL DAY
HALF THE DAY
ALL DAY LONG
11:39am
12:04pm-1:35pm (yes, she was actually sleeping)
12:05pm
1:43pm (she woke up at 1:35, cried, took a drink, and went back to sleep)
Poor little baby face with popped blood vessels. So pitiful :(
4:58pm (sleeping again!)
6:01pm
6:41pm (first real smile of the day!)
7:50pm (out for the night)
I sure hope she's feeling better tomorrow. She was so sweet and pitiful today. She told me lots of times she loved me and she also said, "Thanks for fixing me up last night Mama." My heart melts...

What in the world?

Three things have been cracking me up all day.
1. The picture above.
2. That Leyna asked me today when she would grow up and have one of those clouds with dots coming out of her head. (like in books when they're showing someone thinking...LOL)
3. The picture below. Cora had thorns in her paws...

Sleepover success!

Well I'm happy to report that we all had a successful night last night. Our supper club dinner was fun and the food turned out great. It was a relaxing evening and we got to bed super late. We still woke up a few times during the night and I wouldn't exactly call 7:30 sleeping in, but the best part was that when we woke up we didn't have to jump out of bed. It was SOOO nice just laying there until I felt like getting up! I lasted until 8:30 and then called Nana to see how our girlies were doing :)
Well of course they had a wonderful time but I was surprised to hear they slept through the night. Awesome! Last night they had a hearty meal of Nana's famous Beef & Macaroni, followed by a visit to the frozen yogurt shop, and then a nice sleep together in the big purple bed that used to be mine. This morning they woke up at 6:30 and were treated to bear-shaped pancakes with Huckleberry syrup. Lucky ladies! I met up with them at church and heard lots of fun stories for the rest of the day. Leyna also told me several times how happy she was to be back in her cozy home. They went down for an early bed time and now I'm ready to do the same. But not before I share some of the pictures I found on the camera! Thanks again Nana and Pee Paw!
Playing with the new pizza kit Nana and Pee Paw got them
Story time
Goof ball in Pee Paw's glasses
Shoveling in the Beef & Mac
Dancing. I hear "Buffalo Gals" was a favorite tune of the night.
Ready for bed. Apparently Cora was chattering away and Leyna had to ask her to quiet down so she could get some sleep :)
Breakfast. Must have been good!

First Sleepover

Tonight is a HUGE first, the girls' first night away from Mommy and Daddy. Not sure who it's a huger deal for but we're all excited a maybe a little nervous :) Leyna was alternating between literally running in circles and telling me she was going to miss me. And Cora was being extra clingy and maybe not quite so excited.
Tonight we're hosting our monthly supper club so the girls are packing up and heading off to Nana and Pee Paw's for some fun and hopefully a successful sleepover. I missed them pretty much as soon as they drove out of sight, but I know everything will be fine. They are in good hands! It's so weird being able to leave knives on the counter and candles lit and know they won't get into little hands. And it's weird being able to finish a task without being interrupted! It's an hour before dinner starts and we've had so much time that everything is ready to go and we're just standing around staring at each other and drinking wine. And talking about the girls... ;)
Can't wait to hear all about their adventure tomorrow!

Beauty Parlor & Dreams

This afternoon the girls treated Daddy and I to a little pampering. We had our hair brushed, I had my (pretend) makeup done, and I even had a lizard stuck to my face. Fabulous :)
(the lizard application)

I also have to share this little activity Leyna did this afternoon. I was cooking like crazy at nap time (prepping for tomorrow morning's breakfast request by Leyna, and for tomorrow evening's supper club) and Leyna was doing a Rapunzel activity packet. I read the instructions to this page one time and then told her how to spell the words she yelled out to me. I love that she covered every aspect of the instructions :)
It says "Write down your dreams for the future. They can be dreams of places you want to go, people you want to see or meet, or something you want to be or do. Your dreams can be anything!"
The first and third lines are x'd out because she messed up but she wrote Ballerina, Chuck E Cheeses (she insisted  on putting the "s" at the end), and Grandpa.
Hey Grandpa, enjoy the guilt trip ;)

Drawing a blank...

Today was one of those rare days where I went through the day and didn't have any "Aha! I've gotta blog this" moments. It was a usual type of day, the girls didn't do or say anything extreme, and now everyone in the house is asleep except me and I'm sitting here drawing a blank. Hmm...
These are the lone pictures I took today and they are from my phone.
We went to the library for story time and the girls had a ball today. They don't always participate but today they both did and both loved it. Especially the part where they got to play with the parachute. It was adorable how excited they were :) I'm trying extra hard to soak up these moments these days. By fall both girls will be in school part-time and our schedule won't be as free as it was a year ago when life was full of library visits and trips and play dates. These days it's getting harder to make it to our favorite story times, and play dates are becoming fewer and fewer as everyone starts going to school more and more days a week. This time last year I didn't know how good we had it, so this time this year I'm trying my best to soak it up and appreciate it :)

How long...

...can two little girls run around the family room holding a measuring tape and singing "Frosty the Snowman"?
The answer is 30 minutes. Wow.

Pete and Repeat

Today was just one of those ordinary days. And that's not a bad thing! Leyna's school was closed due to inclement weather so we all hit the grocery store together and had a nice little lunch there while we were at it. The rest of the afternoon consisted of stickers, dolls, and tricycle races all over the first floor of the house. I would say they spend about 75% of their time riding tricycles around the house these days. It can get a little hectic but I'm so glad they have a good outlet for their energy and a way to get some exercise when it's freezing cold outside!
On another topic, I get weekly emails from babycenter.com about the stages the girls are supposedly in and I just have to share the one I got in regards to Cora today:
You may have noticed that your 2-year-old isn't exactly the most flexible person in the world. His little brain is trying to understand how the world works, and once he gets a concept down, he expects it to stay that way. Having things happen the same way every time reassures your preschooler and gives him a confidence boost ("I knew that would happen!"). That's why he likes to sit in a certain chair or goes bananas when his cracker breaks in two.
Oh my goodness - this is Cora. I felt so bad for Andy last week when he was taking care of them and didn't know exactly how Cora likes/expects things. Oh my it was not a happy lunch when he thought he'd spruce up her mac n cheese with a little sprinkle of Parmesan. She was mortified. And I don't think she took a single bite. (And for what it's worth I can relate to this specific example because mac n cheese is a sacred food that should never be messed with. And that includes adding peas to it Pee Paw!) It also wasn't a very good time when Andy decided to peel her banana for her. Sheesh Daddy, what were you thinking??? Now that we have both read this we will just have to embrace her inflexibility and enjoy the idea that it's boosting her confidence. HA!
Leyna's favorite thing to do these days is say everything (or make a new and annoying interesting noise) 1,321,545 times in a row. OH MY GOODNESS! I literally wanted to run away and scream a few times today. LOL
And I didn't take any pictures today so I thought I'd do a little look back in time. Cora is 29 months and 11 days old today (yes, I'm counting down to 2 1/2 - it's getting way too close). Here's a picture of Leyna at 29 months and 14 days old:
And here's Cora on that same day:
Excuse me while I go have a "where in the world has the time gone" panic attack!

Visiting Max & Penelope

We spent a wonderful morning and afternoon with our sweet little friends Max and Penelope today. The kids played so nicely together, helped one another chase and torment poor Gussy Cat, and ate an embarrassing amount of pizza. I'm not going to write any more because I'm sure you've already caught a glimpse of the pictures and they are so adorable you're not going to be able to read when you're done gawking at them :)
It's hard to believe that little purple outfit used to be Leyna's!
